Bonus Episode: Isha Shah
Isha Shah is a London-based photographer that’s challenging the way people view photography. I remember a few years ago we were having a conversation where Isha mused how she worked too hard to feel a sense of imposter syndrome, and so much of that comes through in how she presents her work. There’s a level of immersion that she has within culture that’s awe-inspiring and has led her to work with brands like Nike, Apple Music, ADIDAS, VEVO, etc. She’s also worked closely with artists like Miguel, Mahalia, Lewis Capaldi, and so many more. There’s this constant high-quality approach within her photos that’s also embedded within her unmatched authenticity.
But more importantly, Isha is a sound as fuck person. She’s the kind of friend who’ll remind you of what you’re worth while also inspiring you to be yourself in the face of adversity. I’ve said it loads of times on this series that the best people on the planet are the people who can walk into any room and mold that room to fit for them, rather than the other way around; and that’s Isha in a nutshell. Below are the photos that Isha has taken (which we discuss in-depth):
On today’s bonus podcast, we chat about how she got her start, why it’s important for her to showcase people of colour in a first-class way, and her unique approach to social media. After our chat, be sure to check out the various creative platforms Isha is part of and has founded, such as Roots Creative, Platform London, and Talks with Creatives.
