Hinds (Season 2 Finale)
Welcome to the season 2 finale of The New Exchange! I first want to take a sec and thank you for listening to this podcast, even if it’s your first time doing so. When you start a podcast, the biggest thing you see everywhere are people saying “you need to find your niche to reach an audience.” I honestly never gave much credence to that because, for me, the only audience for this series are people who are interested in hearing stories and different perspectives from people who’re different than them. So with that, the fact you’re checking out this podcast means you’re innately curious about people and that’s really fucking cool to me. So again, thank you for checking out The New Exchange.
Our season 2 finale is with Ana Perrote, guitarist/singer of Hinds, an all-girl indie rock band from Spain that I’ve gotten to know over the years due to my job as a music journalist. Hinds are a band that tours relentlessly, usually coming here (New York) multiple times a year. Since 2016, I could always count on having an incredible hang with Hinds and those times would always remind me that life can be a little bit brighter. Their latest album, The Prettiest Curse, sees the band refining their sound while also proving that you don’t have to sacrifice tenderness to fragility. On this episode I catch up with Ana about the work that went into The Prettiest Curse, playing a New Year’s Eve show with The Strokes, finding likeminded friends in the form of all-girl Japanese band CHAI, and most importantly: why being in a band is more than just a lifestyle.
Season 3 of the podcast will arrive in September and there’ll also be a few bonus episodes dropping throughout the summer, I can’t wait for you to hear those! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter so you don’t miss out.
