Real Exchanges #4: Photography

We definitely had to do one of these before the season ends this month. Hand on heart, this was such a beautiful chat to be part of. For those who don’t know, before podcasting, my main profession was photography; specifically music photography. It’s a passion that unexpectedly grew from a side hustle and then into a career of sorts. It’s allowed me to travel the world and meet hundreds of people, such as today’s esteemed panel who’re not only my peers but also my friends.

Those incredible people are DeShaun Craddock (Instagram, Website), whose work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Huffington Post, Adobe and is based in Brooklyn), Michelle Grace Hunder (Instagram, Website) who’s a Nikon Ambassador, and has had her work featured in The Guardian, Kerrang, and is based in Melbourne, Australia) and Jenn Five (Instagram, Website) who’s had her work featured in NME, Noisey, the BBC and is based in Calgary, Canada). Prior to this chat, the three of them have never met, and yet they’ve each impacted my life in such a multitude of ways.

During this episode, we have a loose chat about our experiences, and I very much want to highlight that aspect of this episode. It hit me while editing that it’s sadly rare for photographers (hell really creatives) to be so expressive about their craft without a hint of clout-chasing. In a lot of ways, this chat is very anti-clout chasing and yeah, I hope that’s an aspect you recognize while listening to it and that you also find yourself laughing along with us.
