Summer Bonus: morgxn

I love it when I get to say this: today’s podcast is a prime example of what this series is all about. In a lot of ways, these talks are a bit of a trojan horse: where we use music to talk about the deeper things in life. Most guests are game for that, and today’s guest was especially keen for such a talk. Say hello to morgxn, an independent singer-songwriter from Nashville that’s toured with acts like Skylar Grey, Phoebe Ryan, and X Ambassadors, along with collaborating with acts like Tiësto, Walk The Moon, and Sara Bareilles.

Versatility is a key factor in morgxn’s songwriting and you see that in full display on their latest album, MERIDIAN, which is out now. Finding their music happened just at the right time in my life. There’s this crucial sense of curiosity, openness, and earnestness in their music that was lacking in my own life; and that aspect rests at the center of what we talk about on this next summer bonus episode. The idea that at times we can lose our way, but can use music to rediscover it and in some ways; even rediscover ourselves. We also chat about morgxn’s experiences of navigating America as a queer person, growing up in an area that’s confused by that, and the challenges that come with growing in an industry that’s hesitant towards change.

After you hear the episode, be sure to check out morgxn’s track DON’T THINK ABOUT IT on the official New Exchange Playlist. Also, be sure to follow morgxn on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
