Welcome to season 4 of The New Exchange podcast, a series that’s all about the fact that everyone has a story to tell. First off, if this is your first time checking out the podcast, my name is Ken Grand-Pierre and I massively appreciate you taking the time to check this out. I’m a photographer based in New York that’s traveled the world working with musicians to capture their tours, both on stage and off. This podcast was born out of the conversations I’d have with musicians on tour buses, green rooms, and rest stops in the middle of nowhere. The constant thread of these conversations was always how we as people find inspiration for our work within our lives outside of work.
The aim for season 4 is to bring you more intimate talks with people I deeply respect. People who’re constantly challenging their creativity and most importantly; people who’re challenging themselves.
Hrishikesh Hirway is a person who directly inspired this series, both with his work in podcasting and his candor towards my rookie questions towards putting a show together. He’s a talented musician, producer, television host and has become prolific within the podcasting space due to his series, The West Wing Weekly, Home Cooking, Partners, and most famously; Song Exploder.
It amazes me that his projects are so eclectic by nature, and yet a hallmark of his podcasts is how he’s able to make these story’s both informative and intimate. That’s largely what today’s chat centers around, not just the importance of ‘how’ we do things but also the importance of ‘why.’
