Katy Leeson

You know, I can’t blame any of you for mistaking this as a music podcast. It’s come up before, but the majority of my guests are musicians due to the work I do as a music photographer. Talk about the biggest humble brag of the century, but most of the people I happen to be around are musicians haha. That said, I do feel it’s important at times to reiterate the main idea of this podcast is to chat with people about their stories and learn how those stories can teach us about both ourselves and the people around us.

That’s ultimately what today’s episode with Katy Leeson is all about. Katy has become one of my favourite people, largely due to how she takes an honest tough-love approach to social media; reminding the world with her posts that it’s ok to not be ok. Katy works as the Managing Director of Social Chain, a social media marketing agency that’s shifting the ways brands utilize social media. She also runs an incredible podcast called, I Shouldn’t Say This, But; a series that helped in making those pandemic days brighter.

Within the series, Katy shares how her experiences of imposter syndrome and navigating therapy has helped her to have remarkable experiences; ultimately teaching us all that there’s power in stepping out of our comfort zones.

But don’t get it twisted, like I mentioned before, Katy doesn’t sugarcoat things; the journey has been a long and rough one. On today’s episode, I chat with Katy about the realities of navigating the professional world as a woman, the empowering feeling that comes from taking the reins of your mental health, and why social media might not be evil after all.

The new season of I Shouldn’t Say This, But has just begun! Be sure to check out the podcast via Spotify, Apple, and where ever you stream podcasts.

Also be sure to follow Katy Leeson on Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn (no seriously, she posts some cool stuff on there).
