Passport Season Bonus: Sulene Returns!
It felt important to me that we explored South Africa some more, especially since it’s a country I’ve yet to visit. To help me out with that, I’ve enlisted the help of my friend Sulene aka one of the most talented humans I’ve ever met. Sulene is a songwriter, performer, producer, and composer from Cape Town who’s morphed into becoming more of a New Yorker than I am.
It’s been such a joy and a privilege getting to see how she’s evolved over the years; both as an artist and a person. Musically (and lyrically), Sulene is incredible at experimenting in a manner that explores how messy we are as human beings. As we explored in the South Africa episode, the country has a unique way of facilitating creativity. Throughout my chat with Sulene we explore how her childhood in South Africa has played a role in her creativity, and how her experiences there still impact her today.
After you hear the episode, be sure to check out Sulene’s track i still think you’re so fake on the latest radio episode highlighting South African artists. Also, be sure to follow Sulene on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, and also be sure to check out her Substack.
