People who’re familiar with me and this blog will know that Belfast, Northern Ireland is very much a second home to me. There’s this unfathomable level of warmth that the people project with their friendliness, along with a dark sense of humour that’s swiftly disarming. Today’s guest is someone I met in Belfast right before Christmas of 2019. It was at a bar called Whites Tavern where I saw Ryan McMullan playing acoustic songs with a presence that felt truly unique. What I didn’t know, was prior to this show Ryan had just toured the world with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol.

Ryan’s songs excel at being intimate, relatable and warm, but also big; which made winning over music fans in arenas and stadiums a breeze for him. On today’s episode, Ryan shares with me the stories behind some fan favourite songs, the creative highs and lows of the pandemic lockdowns and we also chat in-depth about why Belfast is simply one of the best places on earth.

Be sure to check out Ryan’s hilarious podcast, The Life’s A Mess. Also, follow Ryan on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
