Our next special summer bonus episode is with two-time Juno Award-nominated artist, Charlotte Cardin; easily one of Montréal’s most beloved musicians. Since 2015, Charlotte has kept the world transfixed with her stunning voice bolstered by her talents as a songwriter. A Charlotte Cardin song always has this quality of sounding effortlessly modern, regardless of what the song is about. This has all come to fruition within her long-awaited debut album, Phoenix (out now). The album explores the ways that love can challenge us, enrage us and even make us question who we are. Each song explores Charlotte’s intimate life experiences while putting the listener through a mixture of piano ballads and innovative dance floor anthems.

Within this episode, I catch up with Charlotte to discuss the work that went into Phoenix and the reasons she felt a personal rebirth was essential for her craft.

Charlotte will also be touring the states later this fall:

Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Thursday, November 11th)

World Cafe, Philadelphia (Friday, November 12th)

Miracle Theatre, Washington DC (Saturday, November 13th)

The Roxy, Los Angeles (Thursday, November 18th)

After you hear the episode, be sure to check out the reprise of Phoenix (featuring Lubalin) on the official New Exchange Playlist. Also, be sure to follow Charlotte Cardin on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
