My guests today are singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Alex Lahey and Gordi, two musicians who’re prime examples of what a creative hub Australia has become in recent years. Alex is a guitar-slinging singer who is reminding people that pop-punk is something that can grow with you. Gordi is a more introspective singer who seamlessly blends acoustic instruments with electronic beats (in recent years she’s been one of the favourite support acts of Bon Iver).

I feel very fortunate that I’ve gotten to know them both over the years, along with being talented musicians they’re also remarkably kind-hearted human beings. Together, they’re both life-partners and creative collaborators, which is what we explore throughout this episode; what is it like to create art with someone you deeply care about?

Earlier this year, they released a blisteringly affectionate track called Dino’s, after years of music fans begging for them to work together. Dino’s encapsulates what makes both Alex and Gordi special, almost in a way that feels like it was too easy. But was that the case? Well, you’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out. We also chat about the wild recent experiences they’ve had; like Alex making music for Netflix movies and Gordi playing at the Sydney Opera House.

After you hear the episode, be sure to check out not just 1, not 2, BUT 3 tracks from today’s guests over at The New Exchange Playlist. Those tracks are the above-mentioned Dino’s, Alex’s brilliant new single Spike The Punch and Gordi’s timeless track Sandwiches.

Be sure to follow Alex Lahey on Bandcamp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Also, you know the drill, be sure to also follow Gordi on Bandcamp, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
