It’s honestly such a privilege getting to bring you this chat with Foy Vance. Foy is a talented musician who hails from my second home of Northern Ireland. You know that saying “salt of the earth?” It was made to describe people like Foy, a person who’ll make you laugh while also being the person you want to go to with your troubles. His newest album, Signs of Life, features a reinvigorated Foy, but the route to this album was full of addiction, heartbreak, and being forced to take a stark look at the direction of his life.

Today’s episode is special due to how raw Foy speaks about his experiences. He doesn’t hold back and doesn’t shy away from the accountability needed to move forward. Yes, we do chat about his music; but in a lot of ways, this chat is more about why we need hope in our lives and a reminder that the darkness is never as all-encompassing as we think it is in the moment.

Foy will also be touring the states later this fall:

The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever, Los Angeles (Wednesday, November 10th)

Ryman Auditorium, Nashville (Friday, November 12th)

Ryman Auditorium, Nashville (Saturday, November 13th)

Rockwood Music Hall, New York City (Tuesday, November 16th)

After you hear the episode, be sure to check out Foy’s track Hair of the Dog on the official New Exchange Playlist; a track we didn’t get to discuss on the podcast but it beautifully encapsulates what we chatted about. Also, follow Foy Vance on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
