Brandon Stosuy
What does creativity mean to you? For me, the answer has been in a constant state of flux, especially as the world continues to change beyond 2020. Thankfully, today’s guest does a brilliant job of reminding the world of the beautiful simplicity of making stuff. Brandon Stosuy is an author/artist manager/event curator/runner (there truly aren’t enough slashes in the world to express his career) who is also the co-founder of The Creative Independent, a brilliant resource for creatives of all walks of life. Funnily enough, that website played a big role in inspiring this very podcast, due to how the interviews and essays of TCI constantly show us how everyone has a story to tell.
Throughout his career, Brandon has helped people bring their ideas to fruition with a true sense of care and understanding; proving that there’s a place for everyone who wants to create (whether that be with writing, photography, cooking, gardening, etc.). His upcoming book, Stay Inspired: Finding Motivation For Your Creative Work (out May 18th through Abrams) is a continuation of his hunger to figure out what not only makes people get out of bed in the morning but what keeps those people moving. Within our chat, we talk about the book, as well as the practicalities of expressing yourself through art. This is one of my favourite episodes of the season; I know you’re going to love it.
