The best way to describe today’s guest is a quote they shared awhile back: “we should never give others the authority to define who we are.” That quote is reflective of everything that MICHELLE does with their music as a collective. Within their short career they’ve already provided a voice for people of colour, queer and non-binary people in the world of music. Musically, MICHELLE also seamlessly bend genres to their will, making it clear that there aren’t any rules when it comes to what can inspire their six members. They’ve already self-released a brightly inspired album called HEATWAVE and are gearing up for their major label debut. I’ve been into their music for a while now, the way they craft songs is something I find truly unique and it’s also refreshing to both see and hear New York City conveyed in a truthful way; as a dynamic melting pot of creativity.

Within this episode I chat with five of the six members about how individual experiences fuels the creativity of their collective, why diversity brings strength and the hard work that’s going into their next album.
