Today’s episode features not just one but TWO interviews with two incredible artists from Ireland. If you’ve been following the series then you’ll already know that Ireland is a second home to me. A big reason why is because of how honesty is embedded within Irish culture; I love how it’s impossible to fake emotions and gain the respect of the people. Our guests today are a testament to that, proven with their stellar debut albums (which both were nominated for the RTE Choice Music Prize 2021).

The first interview is with Nealo, a rapper who explores the multi-faceted nature of masculinity. His album, All the Leaves Are Falling, explores the nuances behind experiencing loss, growing apart from others and making sense of the changes happening around you. Nealo is the kind of guy you chat with and feel like you’ve known forever, to the extent that our chat felt like a therapy session between two men.

Our second interview is with Ailbhe Reddy, a singer/songwriter whose observational wit will charm the hell out of you. Her album, Personal History, is a special body of work that reminds you how magical songwriting can be. Within our chat we explore how the songs allowed Ailbhe to contemplate her place in the world, the experience of being in a studio for the first time, along with how studying psychotherapy impacted her life.

Just a heads up that there won’t be a new episode of the podcast next week and that season 2 will resume on April 13th!
